Fertility benefits at work: frequently asked questions
What is a fertility-friendly employer?
A fertility-friendly employer supports employees through fertility and family-building, for example with funding or reimbursement for treatment, paid time off for appointments, flexible working, emotional support and clear, inclusive workplace policies.
Do employers pay for IVF?
Some do. Employer IVF support ranges from a set lifetime allowance or reimbursement, to plan-based coverage through insurance or a specialist benefits provider. Amounts, waiting periods and eligibility vary widely, so always check your own employer's current policy with HR or your benefits portal.
Do workplace benefits cover egg freezing and fertility preservation?
Many fertility benefits now include egg, sperm or embryo freezing, either as elective preservation or for medical reasons such as before cancer treatment. Some employers only cover medically necessary preservation, so check what is included before you start treatment.
Are fertility benefits inclusive of LGBTQ+ people and single parents?
Inclusive policies cover people regardless of relationship status, sexual orientation or gender identity, and may include donor eggs or sperm, reciprocal IVF, surrogacy and adoption. Look for policies that do not require a medical diagnosis of infertility to qualify.
How accurate is the employer information in this directory?
Profiles are compiled from public sources and community submissions. Each profile shows whether its information is community-submitted, awaiting employer confirmation or verified, with sources and a last-verified date where available. Benefits change, so please confirm details with the employer.
How can my organisation introduce fertility support?
Start by reviewing what employees need and what your current policies already cover. IVFbabble's Workplace Passport helps employers plan fertility support step by step, and the Fertility Benefits Providers directory lets you compare specialist providers. Employers can also request to be listed or update their profile.
